NEVER BE AN ONLY CHILD

Never be an only child
This world might drive you wild
When something goes wrong
You are suspect number one
When there’s work to be done
You are employee number one
Never mind if your mother can’t keep a house-help
You will be constantly reminded you are supposed to help
No one to share the chores
The only casualty of the wars
If your mother beats you to submission
A word of it you should not mention
Lest she calls the relative
Your side of the story is not worth being repetitive
And when they grow old
And since it’s only you
Get ready to forfeit your dreams
As is expected you do
And if your parents are hard to please like no other
It’s too late to get another
Pray old age reduces the wild
And their behavior turns mild
I know it’s beyond you

But never be an only child

  1. I was looking for '...I know it's beyond you'. Because, really, it is up to the parent. Nice piece. Note though, it should be ''You will be constantly reminded you are supposeD to help''
